Common questions

Which compounding frequency gives the best return?
Monthly > Quarterly > Half-yearly > Annual, all else equal. Most Indian banks compound quarterly or half-yearly. The difference is small on shorter tenures — a ₹5L FD at 7% for 3 years earns about ₹800 more with quarterly vs annual compounding.
Is FD interest taxable?
Yes. FD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. The bank deducts 10% TDS if interest exceeds ₹40,000/year (₹50,000 for seniors). If your income is below the taxable limit, submit Form 15G/15H to avoid TDS.
How does Worthly use my FD data?
When you add an FD to Worthly, it calculates accrued interest automatically and includes your FD in your total net worth — live, alongside your stocks, mutual funds, and other assets. Try it free →
